Instructional Program Summary

Alpha
Omega Publications, Inc. curriculum, Switched-On Schoolhouse (SOS) is a
powerful educational tool that has been designed to engage students in learning
and enhance the educational experience.
It combines a traditional approach with multimedia, allowing students to
build a solid educational foundation while interacting with the curriculum in a
dynamic, hands-on way. It also uses a
Christian curriculum that integrates Scripture and a biblical worldview
throughout the activities and assignments.
The SOS program affords WCBS the ability to cost effectively and
efficiently provide students in grades 7-12 a high-quality Christian-based core
and elective curriculum that serves to expand academic learning experiences to
meet established national standards.
The SOS self-hosted, LAN program goals are to:
- Provide a secure, self-hosted
computer-based learning environment for the core curriculum subjects of
Math, Science, English/Language Arts, History & Geography, and Bible.
- Deliver the core subjects and
selected elective courses in an on-site, collaborative, interactive fixed
schedule format for student learning.
- Establish learning centers
with a student/teacher ration of no more than 25:1 that serves to
facilitate the learning environment.
- Assure high-quality learning
experiences for all learners by utilizing on-site learning mentor teachers
to monitor and supervise instruction.
- Institute character plan
training integrated into Bible course instruction.
- Assure the deployment of
technology to effectively manage the complete SOS course and
administrative management systems.
- On-site elective courses
provide students with multiple learning advantages that include Foreign
Language, Computer Literacy, Science Laboratory, Woodshop, Home Economics,
P.E./Intramural Activities, Journalism/Yearbook, and Student Government.
Tuition for 2008-2009 covers the student instructional costs. The student is responsible to provide for
their own personal use an audio headset, a flash disk for backing up/saving
course data, and a spiral notebook for each of the enrolled core subject.
